Fire Cracker Swordtail

The Firecracker Swordtail is a vibrant and energetic freshwater fish known for its striking red and black colouration that resembles a burst of fireworks. Its bold pattern and constant activity make it a standout feature in community aquariums. This colourful variety of Xiphophorus hellerii is popular among aquarists for its hardiness and lively personality.

Firecracker Swordtails are peaceful and social fish that do well in community tanks with other active but non-aggressive species. Males are easily recognised by the long “sword” extension on the lower part of their tail, which gives swordtails their distinctive name.

They are hardy fish that adapt well to a variety of aquarium conditions, making them suitable for both beginner and experienced fish keepers. Swordtails thrive in well-maintained aquariums with plenty of swimming space and some plants or decorations for cover.

As omnivores, Firecracker Swordtails enjoy a varied diet including quality flakes, small pellets, vegetable-based foods, and occasional frozen or live treats to keep them healthy and colourful.
