Green Texas Cichlid (Herichthys carpintis)

The Green Texas Cichlid is a stunning and highly sought-after freshwater fish, known for its shimmering green-blue pearling scattered across a dark body. As it matures, this species develops intense coloration and a strong, commanding presence, making it a true centrepiece fish.

Despite its beauty, the Green Texas Cichlid is territorial and can be aggressive, especially as it grows. It is best suited to larger aquariums with plenty of space and strong tank mates that can handle its temperament. Providing rocks, driftwood, and defined territories will help reduce aggression.

This species is hardy and adaptable, making it popular among intermediate to advanced aquarists. It thrives in stable water conditions and benefits from regular maintenance to keep colours vibrant and health optimal.

Green Texas Cichlids are omnivores with a strong appetite. They will readily accept high-quality pellets, along with frozen and live foods such as prawns, worms, and insects. A varied, protein-rich diet will enhance their colour and growth.
