Red Spot Severum (Heros sp.)
The Red Spot Severum is a stunning and peaceful South American cichlid prized for its vibrant red spotting and shimmering golden-green body. As they mature, these beautiful fish develop intense red markings across their flanks and fins, making them a true centerpiece in any freshwater aquarium.
Known for their calm temperament compared to many other cichlids, Red Spot Severums can be kept with a variety of similarly sized community fish. They are intelligent, interactive, and quickly learn to recognize their owners, often greeting them at the front of the tank during feeding time.
Growing to around 20–25cm in adulthood, Red Spot Severums thrive in well-maintained aquariums with plenty of swimming space, driftwood, and décor that mimics their natural habitat. Their hardy nature and striking appearance make them an excellent choice for both intermediate and experienced fish keepers.
