Sterbai Corydora (Corydoras sterbai)
The Sterbai Corydora is a highly sought-after bottom-dwelling catfish, admired for its striking pattern of white spots over a dark body, contrasted by vibrant orange pectoral and ventral fins. Its unique appearance and active nature make it a standout in any freshwater aquarium.
Peaceful and social, Sterbai Corydoras thrive in groups and should be kept in schools of at least 5–6 individuals. They spend most of their time foraging along the substrate, helping to clean up leftover food while adding constant movement to the lower levels of the tank.
This species is well-suited to warmer aquariums compared to many other Corydoras, making it an excellent companion for tropical community fish such as discus and tetras. A soft sand substrate is recommended to protect their sensitive barbels, along with plenty of hiding spots using driftwood or plants.
Sterbai Corydoras are omnivores and will readily accept sinking pellets, wafers, frozen foods, and occasional live foods. While they scavenge, they should still be fed a proper diet to ensure good health.
Care Summary:
Hardy, peaceful, and visually striking, the Sterbai Corydora is a perfect addition to any community aquarium, especially for those looking to bring life to the bottom of the tank.
